it's like saying you saw jimi in the village in the mid-60's, or the clash at the 100 club in 76.
it's the feeling of having been present at a moment thick with history. 28 years later these guys are still shifting the tectonic plates; there is no music that hasn't been influenced by them.
and if the surviving members have any idea of this fact, one wonders if they even give a shit.

I saw 'em quite a few times between '82 and '85. They were about as good as it gets, for my money.
