Exactly a month ago today, a kitten that could be this one's twin showed up on our doorstep.

Well, figuratively: She was hiding in a patch of wildflowers in the corner of our front yard, letting out the most plaintive lost-kitten wail imaginable. About 2 1/2 - 3 months old, skinny as a rail, with these incredibly beautiful golden eyes and a motor you can hear across the room when she starts up.

And infested with fleas and intestinal parasites, which is why we didn't put up any "Found" notices.

Not exactly what we were looking for, with one diabetic dog and three adult cats already rooming here at the Grouchomarxist Home for Wayward Pets. But before the week was out, it was too late: We'd succumbed to the invincible cuteness.

She's lost the fleas and worms, and gained a pound in the intervening month. It took about a week to introduce her to the other tenants, but she's now gleefully terrorizing all and sundry.

I hope you're getting as many grins out of your manic bundle of fur as we are.

'Tis the season, I guess. I know a bunch of other people who took in stray kittens in the last month or two.

I wasn't in the market either...but she twisted my arm, somehow.

She was healthy, thankfully, save for some fleas which have been evicted. And she's very good-natured (looks down at lap adoringly).

Aw, heck. I don't have any pictures of her yet that are near as cute, but here she is on the day she showed up, in, I should add, a most uncharacteristically sedate and dignified pose.

They were obviously separated at birth!

Thanks for the kitty blogging. Add my tuxedo kitty to the list of brazen home hunters. She was 4 months old, looked 2, covered in fleas, disturbed by parasites when she found us.

She dove through the front door when I opened it (no, it wasn't she who rang the doorbell)and hid under the sofa until I gave up trying to toss her out on her (mite-infested) ears.

We cleaned her up and fixed her ailments; ten days later she entered the mainstream animal population (3 cats 2 dogs) and now ambushes them every other minute. They love Grace and so do I. Schweet.
