@#$%&!?!?

Bush really deserves his very own circle of Hell:

Bush, in his State of the Union address, said the spending plan that he will send to Congress on Monday "stays on track to cut the deficit in half by 2009."

"America's prosperity requires restraining the spending appetite of the federal government," Bush said.
Would that be the same federal government that has been controlled by Republicans for the last four years? And is led by a president who has never vetoed a single spending bill? A president whom the conservative hack Jonah Goldberg said spends money "like Uday Hussein on a Paris shopping trip"?

Would that be the same federal government that, under Bush, "misplaced" almost 9 billion dollars in Iraq? The same one that spent over 10 billion dollars on a useless, hopelessly flawed missile-defense system in 2004 alone? The same federal government whose Corps of Engineers spent 12 billion dollars on a horrific gaggle of wasteful and environmentally dangerous projects? And aimed to spend $17 million dollars on studying psychic teleportation? The same government that illegally spends taxpayer money on pro-Bush propaganda?

Is there any limit at all to the American public's appetite for this man's lies and contempt?

i think it will only end when other countries stop taking our IOU's. the american people have no greater appetite than their appetite for denial (that's a stan goff quote). i am afraid of impending total economic collapse. a lot of people say that's impossible. i don't know enough to say for sure, but i do know you have to try to balance the books occasionally. my recent trip to flyover country crushed any remaining hope i may have had for the so called "average american." after that visit, i became convinced that any change in this country will come from without, not within. the american people have tuned out...
