Friday Nudibranch Blogging

Now we feel Hypselodoris bullocki to be inexhaustible
like an ancient wine
and no one can gaze on her without vertigo
and time has charged her with eternity.

And to think that she wouldn't exist
except for those fragile instruments, the eyes.

(Photo by Richard Smith, whose other work is equally breathtaking.)

I saw a nudibranch in real life yesterday. Immediately thought of this feature. The one I saw wasn't much to look at tho, and sadly it was just in an aquarium at the Padilla Bay Estuarine Research Reserve. A bit nippy to get in the water looking for them in the wild.

I also saw a flock? murder? parliament? funkadelic? of eagles further up the Skagit. Stopped on a bridge and saw eight baldies in the surrounding trees. A nifty nature day all around.
