A mediocre movie, IMO, that has become an official "classic" only because it shows a pacifist killing someone under duress. Nicholas Ray's <i>On Dangerous Ground</i>, which was made the same year and is virtually <i>High Noon</i>'s antithesis, is a much better film...but I suspect it'll never be a "classic" to someone like Geyer.<br /><br /><i><br />I'd say she ought to stick to history and foreign policy -- except that as I seem to recall from seeing her on the News Hour long ago, before I figured I could get my CW from other sources, her opinions in those areas were every bit as awful and superficial as this mess.</i><br /><br />Oh, she's appalling. Her column on Saddam's hanging was actually grotesque enough to stand out from the background noise, which is really saying something.
